The Yamaha CVP Piano

The Yamaha Clavinova piano range will celebrate its 25th birthday in 2008. This highly successful range of digital pianos were launched by Yamaha in 1983. Since that time the Clavinova piano series has won a staggering amount of awards.

The Clavinova piano series is split into two with the Yamaha clp and the Yamaha cvp selections. The Yamaha clp has been developed more along the lines of a traditional acoustic piano, with less instrumental voices than the Yamaha cvp. Most of the Yamaha clp series is considered to be more basic than the Yamaha cvp. For more information on the Yamaha clp we have an entire article you may like to read.

The entire Yamaha Clavinova piano range is famous for its authentic keyboard touch, and amazingly realistic voices. This makes the Clavinova perfect digital pianos for piano playing in all formats: learning, composing and performing.

The Yamaha cvp are considered the most progressive of all digital pianos. The Yamaha cvp range offers the pianist numerous instrument voices, percussion rhythm facilities, a floppy disc drive, and most importantly, authentic acoustic piano sound and touch with 88 keys on the Yamaha keyboard.

Moreover, the built in sequencing software allows you to play and record your very own musical masterpieces accompanied by the hundreds of voices on offer. These instrumental voices have been created by sampling real instruments. The synthesizer can then modify the voice to your preferred sound. Sound effects and electronic instruments can be imitated by the synthesizer.

Along with the hundreds of voices on offer, there is also literally hundreds of accompanying styles to select from. Jazz, pop, big bands, rock, classical orchestras, and traditional dances and waltzes, are just some of your choices when playing these digital pianos.

No matter what your standard of piano playing is, the performance assistant technology will have you sounding like Elton John. Switch the performance assistant technology to "On" to have all your pieces embellished, with perfect rhythm and harmony. It will never sound like you have hit the wrong key ever again!

The Yamaha cvp range features an Auto Accompaniment which offers you various selections of introductions, fill ins and endings. The Music Finder feature will assist you with your choices if you are unsure or just overwhelmed by all the possibilities. You can select a title and it will totally reconfigure the whole piece for you, including styles, effects and voices.

There are between 56 and 120 (depending on the series), built in songs in the Yamaha Clavinova piano library. There is also a 16 track recording studio for the aspiring composer, allowing you to compose your masterpieces one track at a time.

The cvp 301 is the least expensive in the Yahama Clavinova 3 series. The top of the price range is the cvp 309gp.

The Clavinova pianos all feature the amazing technology of Instrumental Active Field Control (IAFC) which means that these digital pianos pick up the sound you are playing and are able to adjust it in real time to match and complement the acoustics of the room you are playing in.

The piano voices of the Clavinova piano range have been made even more authentic sounding with the Dynamic Stereo Sampling System (DSS), which mean that samples have been taken off Yamaha grand pianos playing from soft to loud. This allows the pianist to better recreate the playing expressiveness of an acoustic grand piano.

The cvp 309gp is a fantastic tool for the composer. This digital piano has a built in optical out terminal which allows you to export your music for recording to another device, such as an audio CD burner. With the use of a computer and a CD burner you can actually create CD's of your own compositions. No recording studio required!

The cvp 309gp has the appearance of a grand piano. Not only does it look like a grand piano, it sounds and behaves like a Yamaha grand piano. The cvp 309gp has a natural wood keyboard, and balanced weight to ensure the feel of the grand piano. The lower notes even feature the slightly delayed response that the pianist would expect when playing a grand piano.

The sound and touch of an acoustic piano combined with a recording studio, karaoke machine, and hundreds of voices and styles, all encased in an elegant cabinet, makes the Yamaha CVP Piano the digital piano to beat.
